Syska Hennessy Group is currently actively involved as a building
systems engineering, sustainable design, and LEED® commissioning
consultant for the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD)
Proposition A Construction Program. As a national leader in Sustainable
Design practices, Syska strongly supports LACCD’s decision
that all projects with Proposition A funding be designed to achieve
a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED®) certification.
Our current involvement with the district involves three diverse
projects:
Los Angeles City College Student
Admissions Building
Los Angeles, California
Syska Hennessy Group is currently providing consulting engineering
and design services as a part of Amphibian Arc’s team for
this new 25,000 sq. ft. Student Admissions Building on the Los
Angeles City College Campus. When complete, the project will incorporate
under floor air distribution, high efficiency lighting with automated
daylight dimming controls, and a 75 kW rooftop photovoltaic system.
Syska Hennessy’s ability to combine sustainable design expertise
with our higher education experience was key in our selection for
this project.
East Los Angeles College Performing
and Fine Arts Complex
Monterey Park, California
Energy model of the the East Los Angeles College Performing and Firne Arts Complex.
Syska Hennessy Group is currently providing consulting and engineering
services for the East Los Angeles College Performing and Fine Arts
Complex as a part of the Arquitectonica design team. This planned
facility will feature over 100,000 sq. ft. of new space and house
the Vincent Price Art Gallery, Theater Arts, Dance Performance,
and Music, along with a 350-seat Performance Theater. The project
team will apply sustainable building design principles, standards
and processes to achieve either a Certified or Silver LEED® Building
rating for this building.
Los Angeles Mission College
LEED® Building
Commissioning
Sylmar, California
Syska Hennessy Group is currently teamed with Jacobs Engineering
to provide LEED® Building Commissioning services to Los Angeles
Mission College. A basic level of commissioning is required for
any building seeking a LEED® certification, and LACCD’s
goal is to exceed Title 24 requirements by 10% for major renovations,
and by 20% for new projects. Our team will provide these services
throughout all three phases of the building process – design,
construction, and final documentation.
