Syska
Hennessy Group Technology provided information technology, audiovisual,
and security system design and engineering for the 1.6 million
sq. ft. Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, one of the world's largest
convention centers. The features for this $500 million project
include a Visual Information System with over 200 monitors providing
information related to expositions, conventions, and current New
York City information.
As part of this engagement, Syska also addressed the capability
for simultaneous language translation, global teleconferencing
through telephone access and microwave transmission, and the
integration of computer controlled electronic signage with
video inputs for
graphics and displays.
In addition, Syska’s security system design included risk
analysis, conceptual design development, performance specifications,
and construction documents, installation supervision, testing,
and commissioning. The design featured a fully integrated closed
circuit television, access control, alarm monitoring, watch tour,
and intercommunication of subsystems. State-of-the-art microprocessor
based CCTV and security system integrates over 800 CCTV cameras,
door and panic alarms and card access over a backbone of fiber
optics, for both interior and exterior surveillance.
