Merck Co. discovers, develops, manufactures, and markets a broad
range of products to improve human and animal health. Syska Hennessy
Group Technology was selected to provide Technology Consulting
for their new 62,000 sq. ft. Boston Research Center. The Center
designed in an effort to allow Merck to continue to develop and
market leading pharmaceutical products consist of lab and office
space (12 stories above grade, 6 below), including a new BSL-3
lab.
Acting as the liaison for the Merck IS and Central Engineering
groups, Syska specified voice and data connectivity for the BSL-3
labs, including wireless Access Points in ceiling spaces, waterproof
telecom outlets and a hands-free phones for wash-down areas and
clean rooms. The designs were part of the overall technology platform
for the building, including a state-of-the-art 6,000 sq. ft. data
center which provides the site with global connectivity to other
major Merck facilities. Syska Hennessy Group’s Technology
was involved in this assignment from the earliest conceptual designs
through commissioning and move-in for the building.
