Commissioning is
a process to assure that the performance of a facility
complies with its design intent. This process begins during
the initial design of the facility and continues through
facility completion. Through proper planning of testing,
documentation and training, commissioning will assure the
quality and performance of the facility under construction.

| The growing complexity
of building systems and their interconnection makes
the coordination and operation of the building
increasingly difficult. As a means of making the
operation of a new facility or building system
a smooth process, the equipment is commissioned.
Commissioning is the planned testing of equipment
and its interoperation with other equipment. FMD
works with clients, design engineers, manufacturers,
and installers to develop comprehensive commissioning
plans. The plans cover the testing of the building
systems, training of the building staff on operation
of the systems, and production of systems-based
O&M manuals. The earlier in the design/construction
of a building or system the more cost-effective
commissioning can be. With proper planning the
transition and start-up of a facility will proceed
smoothly. |
