LOS ANGELES -- June 2002 -- Syska Hennessy Group
Construction, Inc. has been awarded contracts totaling $19.1 million
to upgrade
several U.S.
military health facilities:
- The $7 million Nutrition Care Center Renovation for Walter
Reed Army Medical Center will double the seating area capacity
and upgrade
the lighting, fire, security and sound systems. Syska's proposal
delivers the 30,000-square-foot renovation in four phases with
significant project savings that will be applied toward the
purchase of additional state-of-the-art kitchen equipment.
- The first phase of Wright-Patterson Medical Center's $3.5
million renewal project includes the relocation and upgrade of
six departments
totaling 16,000 square feet. This phased renovation program
will bring the 700,000-square-foot hospital into compliance,
upgrading
all (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) systems
- Chesser Dental Clinic at Fort Polk will undergo a $4.2 renovation
including installation of new dental equipment and system upgrades
to meet code compliance. Syska will also construct a temporary
clinic until the 15,000-square-foot renovation is complete.
- At Kenner Army Health Clinic, five existing clinics will
be combined to create one 16,000-square-foot primary health care
center.
The $4 million project will result in improved patient services.
- Walter Reed Army Medical Center's Laser Eye Center is being
upgraded under a $400,000 contract to increase functionality
and expand patient treatment areas.
