Our client, an on-line mortgage and retail bank had been working on planning and design of their new 16,000 sq ft Corporate Facility for over one year without much process on the project. They had engaged a national provider of telecommunications equipment to plan and design their facility; the result of which was an inconsistent design with “gold plated” components of the critical power core and surrounded by “tin plated” components and multiple single points of failure. Seeking a more integrated design approach, the client engaged Syska Hennessy Group. As a reliability expert, Syska implemented its Outcome E²C™ approach to provide a more balanced approach to the data center design. The team focused the client’s resources on the systems instead of the components and deleted those items that did not add value to the function or reliability of the facility. The resulting balanced approached provided a highly reliable and functional data center, which Syska Hennessy Group then went on to construct as the General Contractor under a very tight construction schedule.

Syska Hennessy Group’s internal Construction Team proceeded to develop and implement a plan that upgraded the design, permit the project and the construction, test and turn over a fully redundant data center within three months of the day we were first engaged. Syska Hennessy Group Construction completed integrated testing and received a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy; seven weeks from the day construction permits were obtained.

The Syska team has continued their relationship with this client, providing on-site facility management services to their La Mirada Facility to ensure uptime and modify and upgrade the systems to meet their changing business needs. In addition Syska served as the engineer/construct team on their 4,000 sq. ft. Disaster Recovery Center in Pasadena, California and completed a Reliability Assessment Report at the Kalamazoo Data Center in Michigan.

Currently, Syska is involved in the design of multiple branch office projects for the bank including locations in Costa Mesa, Buena Park, Long Beach, Glendale, Northridge and Long Beach.
