ESPN at LA Live! West Coast Broadcast Facility
Los Angeles, CA

ESPN, Inc., is the leading multinational, multimedia sports entertainment company featuring a broadcast portfolio of multimedia sports assets with over 50 business entities. Headquartered in Bristol, CT, ESPN was interested in bolstering its Southern California presence by building a complimentary broadcast facility on the west coast.

Syska was selected to complete the MEP design for both the core and shell and the broadcast space for the facility. The new five-story building is part of the four million sf LA Live! entertainment district adjacent to the STAPLES Center. The sports network’s new studios will be in an ESPN-branded 120,000 sf building. The top three floors of the building will accommodate 70,000 sf of production facilities with two HD studios, one being 7,500 sf, and the other 5,000 sf. The floors will also contain supporting television production components, including control rooms, master control facilities, editing facilities, a screening and newsroom area, production space and more. A radio studio will be located on the fifth floor. Additional production locations in the building include outside balconies and glassed-in areas, will overlook LA Live!, the STAPLES Center and other parts of downtown Los Angeles.

ESPN's selection of Syska was based on our previous working experience with Disney, parent company of ESPN, Inc.,and technical understanding of broadcast facility design, as well as our presence on other LA Live! projects.
