Los Angeles, CA
A leading Spanish television station relocated their corporate headquarters into a 4-story 160,000 sq. ft. facility in Los Angeles, California. Our scope of services included designing a television broadcast facility with a studio, and post-production and office space.
The owner retained Syska Hennessy for our ability to lead the engineering design of highly technical and specialized broadcast facilities. The FCC’s mandate that broadcasting companies transition from analog to digital technology, and our client’s desire to establish a bi-coastal presence, made the engineering design an integral part of the successful completion of the project.
Working directly with the owners, we completed the design of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems. Specific engineering aspects of the project included establishing system redundancy to ensure studio up-time 24/7, and switching to digital technology which decreased grounding requirements thus reducing harmonic vibration.
Today, the station has a state-of-the-art television studio to complement their broadcast offerings in Miami, Florida. Planning for a possible hurricane or earthquake event, the Los Angeles facility will be able to quickly cover for its sister facility in the event of a natural disaster thereby keeping its Spanish-speaking audience informed.
As a result of our success at the Los Angeles location, our team has been selected for similar projects in San Antonio, Houston, Phoenix, Fresno, Austin, and Puerto Rico.
