Marymount College Library Addition and Celia Hall Classroom Renovations
Rancho Palos Verdes, CA

Marymount College is situated on a scenic area along the California coastline in Rancho Palos Verdes. Since it opened in 1975, the College has made few major additions or changes to the campus. Recently, the College has implemented planning for several green projects that complement and respect the surrounding landscape. One key project is the 26,710 sf library addition to Celia Hall, as well as several classroom renovations.

The new library building will house spaces for conventional stacks, library offices, a lecture hall, computer lab, learning center, proctoring facilities, restrooms, study rooms, a coffee bar, reading and lounge areas. The College desired a beautiful new library constructed of environmentally responsive materials powered, heated and cooled with sustainable and energy-efficient systems. Syska’s team of engineers is working closely with the design team and the College to implement environmentally responsive systems that will support LEED Gold Certification.

As part of this renewable energy program, Syska Hennessy Group has undertaken engineering a 24 kW Photovoltaic (PV) system. This system will be a grid-tied system with interconnection to the serving utility metering equipment. PV panels will be roof-mounted unifacial panels.
