Nanotechnology Lab, Dell Butcher Hall: Provide
HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing construction documents for the existing
ground floor
lab and office renovation of approximately 1,715 SF as described
in the Rice University Project Program Statement of Scope of Work
to accommodate nanotechnology research with addition of RF shielded
room and depressed experiment pits. Existing building infrastructure
was adequate for renovation.
Bioinformatics Research Lab, M.D. Anderson
Hall: Provide
HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing construction documents for the existing
2nd floor labs and offices renovation of approximately 1,700 SF
as described in the Rice University Project Program Statement of
Scope of Work to accommodate Bioinformatics Research. The existing
building infrastructure was inadequate for renovation and budget
was tight. Design to meet Rice lab design criteria with fume hood
and general room exhaust with a roof mounted high plume fume hood
exhaust fan. Investigate existing building infrastructure, i.e.,
outside AHU, chilled water capacity and fume hood exhaust riser.
Nano-Materials Research and Testing Laboratory,
Cox Engineering Hall: Provide HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing
construction documents for the existing ground floor lab and
office renovation of approximately
851 SF as described in the Rice University Project Program Statement
of Scope of Work to accommodate Nano-Materials Research and Testing
Laboratory. The existing building infrastructure was barely adequate
for renovation and budget was tight. MEP design to a fixed limited
budget was required. Re-use was to be made of as much as possible
to limit costs. Preliminary design must be tailored to that end,
attend required design and review meetings with Owner and User.
Designed to meet Rice lab design criteria with fume hood and general
room exhaust while reusing existing roof mounted upblast exhaust
fan. Investigate existing building infrastructure, i.e., outside
AHU, chilled water capacity and fume hood exhaust riser.
Computer Lab Renovation Sewell Hall: Renovation of existing class
room areas 101, 101A, 101D, and 101F in Sewell Hall to provide
A/V upgrades and computer work stations with surface mounted conduit
for power and computer IT connections. The work will cover an area
of construction of approximately 949 SF. The budget was tight and
MEP design to a fixed limited budget was required. Re-use was to
be made of as much as possible to limit costs. Above ceiling work
was not performed due to presence of asbestos. Preliminary design
must be tailored to that end, attend required design and review
meetings with Owner and User. Design to meet Rice computer lab
criteria. Investigate existing building infrastructure, i.e., large
built-up dual duct basement AHU capacity and provide HVAC load
calculation for proposed computer lab to determine adequacy of
existing above ceiling HVAC system.
