Bristol-Myers Squibb research laboratory
|
Syska Hennessy Group is currently designing the new Process Research
and Development Laboratory building for Bristol-Myers Squibb on
their New Brunswick campus. The facility, designated as Building
50, is a 145,000 sq. ft. building that includes three laboratory
floors above a ground-level entry/mechanical floor. The program
includes
a combination of process research, technology, engineering and
specialty laboratories. The building also includes a variety of
specialized research support spaces, administrative offices, individual
research staff offices, conference rooms and an auditorium to serve
the New Brunswick campus.
The laboratories are grouped with staff offices along a combined
personnel / service corridor, on each side of a central zone
of support space and shared facilities. Labs are grouped in combinations
to support the flow of development from process research through
engineering. Specialty labs, such as containment and hydrogenation,
along with major equipment such as NMRs, are distributed throughout
the laboratory floors. The laboratories are designed with a combination
of fixed and adjustable casework, benchtop and walk-in fume hoods,
and overhead services to meet future development needs.
The building also incorporates a variety of common spaces for
research staff, including conference rooms, break rooms and
shared facilities
consolidated around a central atrium area, to further enhance
interaction among the research staff.
